- Exercise Electrocardiogram
(Stress Test)
EXERCISE ELECTROCARDIOGRAM: The treadmill test obtains
an electrocardiographic recording (EKG) from the patient
at rest, during and after exercise. The test will allow
the Cardiologist to measure the patients exercise
tolerance as well as to evaluate any EKG changes, or
symptoms the patient may experience during exercise. The
test is helpful in assessing the presence of suspected
coronary artery disease in patients that are both
asymptomatic and symptomatic. This test is also used to
evaluate a patient after they have recovered from a heart
attack, coronary artery bypass, surgery, medical therapy
and balloon angioplasty.
PREPARATION: Do not eat or drink anything
except water for 3 hours prior to testing. Please ask your
physician about taking your medication. Please wear
comfortable shoes and clothing.
TEST RESULTS: The results will
be interpreted by our cardiologists, and your physician
will be sent the test results within 24 hours.
